This year’s theme is Black Health and Wellness to recognize the legacy of scholars and medical practitioners. Black Health and Wellness not only includes one’s physical body but also emotional and mental health.

This month, we celebrate the achievements of Black Americans and encourage the community to reflect on our nation’s history and the many contributions of Black Americans.

National Blood Donor Month is recognized every January for nearly 50 years to remind others about the lifesaving impact of blood and platelet donors. According to America’s Blood Center, 31,000 pints of blood are used every day. 

January is one of the most difficult times to maintain a sufficient blood supply for patients. Make a difference in the new year, and schedule an appointment to donate!

National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness aims to make the public aware of the disease and its scale amongst the American population. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, and approximately one in every two American families are affected. Take time this month to learn more about the Alzheimer’s epidemic.

Hospices across the country are informing others about the highest quality care they provide that enables patients and families to focus on living as fully as possible despite a life-limiting illness. Palliative care brings holistic care to people earlier in the course of a serious illness. November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. Between Nurses, Chaplains, and Social Workers, these highly trained professionals ensure that patients and families find dignity, respect, and love during a most difficult journey. We would like to thank our caring teams for enriching the lives of our patients and their families every day.

Let’s encourage others to seek information about Alzheimer’s or dementia. Heavy use of alcohol, toxins, and viruses can cause hepatitis. Hepatitis Awareness Week brings aims to educate others about viral hepatitis.
