One in Four Americans with a disability can access and participate more in their workplace and in general communities because of National Independence Day. National Disability Independence Day is celebrated on July 26th in honor of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. It also guarantees their civil rights to access education, translation, and other services. From narrow doors to small bathroom stalls becoming wheelchair accessible, the ADA broke down everyday barriers for individuals with disabilities. Today, we celebrate National Disability Independence Day!
